FAQ of Coated and Printed Aluminum Sheets for Bottle Closure Packaging

Bottle caps are essential for sealing all kinds of containers. Food and drinks are thus optimally protected throughout their shelf life. The coated and printed aluminum sheet is a common bottle cap material. The coating also has excellent deep stamping properties.

1. When is the paint used and when is the ink used?

A: The coating machine uses paint, and the printing machine uses ink. In other words, if you choose color coated aluminum sheet, we use the paint; if you choose the printed aluminum, the ink will be used on the coated aluminum sheet to form patterns.

2. What is the oven temperature?

A: It is generally 180-200 degrees Celsius and can be adjusted within this range according to different coating indicators and product requirements.

3. What materials are generally used for inner coating (back coating)?

A: There are 2 types in total. One is varnish (transparent, yellow), the other is adhesive (PVC, PE, EVA). The choice is according to customer requirements. The general paint film thickness is 4-6gsm.

4. What is varnish and its function?

A: Varnish is a kind of synthetic resin, commonly known as colorless transparent paint. It can be divided into UV varnish and PU varnish. It plays a wear-resistant protective role, and improves the luminosity and brightness of the color, making it feel good to the touch.

5. What is the difference between the retort-resistant color coating process and the ordinary color coating process?

A: The used varnish is different. To resist cooking, you need to use varnish that can withstand high temperatures. In addition, when producing retort-resistant products, the furnace temperature must not be lower than 195 degrees Celsius (except for white coated aluminum sheets).

The processing speed should not be higher than 3200-3400. Reduce the processing speed to ensure that the constant temperature zone of the product reaches 12-14 minutes. The proportion of color paste in the front coating should not be too high. Measure the thickness of the coating film during the front coating. The coating should not be too thin.

6. Which kind of the paint do you use?

A: We adopts food grade environmentally friendly paint. It is widely used in food, catering, medical, children's products and other fields that require contact with food or have high human safety requirements.

Usually harmless, low-volatile organic solvents are used and do not contain harmful substances such as formaldehyde, heavy metals, benzene, etc. It has passed a number of quality and safety certifications, such as European REACH regulations, US FDA certification, Chinese GB 4806.1 standards, etc.
